Pack Wars is quickly dissolving into a mere Pack Scuffle. Box #1 has smacked Box #2 with a couple of left hooks, a right jab, and a left hook. Could this be the knockout punch that sends Box #2 back to the dusty card aisle where it (apparently) should have remained? Or, is this the first pack where Box #2 decides to fight back?
Note: For complete scoring rules, check out the initial post.
Pack #05: 2007 Upper Deck Series 1
Box #1:
150. Jason Bartlett (0 points)
352. Kenny Lofton (0 points)
382. Pedro Martinez (I never really liked Pedro much... 0 points)
416. Josh Barfield (0 points)
489. Matt Holliday - Colorado Rockies Checklist (0 points)
Upper Deck Code Card (0 points. Have at that code kids...it's from 2007 but maybe it's still good.)
Total score: 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 0 points.
Well, if Box #2 is ever going to make a move to get on the board, this is the time. What a pathetic pack... 0 points might actually be generous...
Box #2:
1. Doug Slaten (0 points)
257. Juan Cruz (0 points)
357. Takashi Saito (0 points)
412. Shane Youman (It's a Pirate! 2 points...just in the nick of time too - these packs stink.)
422. Geoff Blum (0 points)
Total score: 0 + 0 + 0 + 2 + 0 = 2 points.
Two Diamondbacks, a Dodger, and a Padre...4 out of the 5 cards were NL West teams. The good news for Box #2 was that the 5th card was a Pirate card worth 2 whopping points. Even so, it only took 2 points to win this pack battle... I think this battle was less of a Box #2 victory and more of Box #1 falling on its own sword and stabbing itself in the eye.
Running tally:
Box 1: 4 pack wins and +53 total points
Box 2: 1 pack win and +35 total points
Box 2 is finally on the scoreboard with a pack win...and it closed the gap ever so slightly in total points in the process. Eleven packs left...plenty of time for a monumental comeback by box 2!
