Congrats to the Saints - Super Bowl XLIV Wrap up

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints. I wasn't rooting for the Saints, but they certainly earned the victory. It was nice to have a Super Bowl without any referee questions this year, I will say that. I thought the end of the game was anti-climatic...but the game itself was won (in my eyes) with the onside kick at the start of the second half by the Saints. It was a bold move that paid immediate dividends...and I think it turned the Saints into believers and the Colts into doubters. Well played New Orleans, well played.

The other big story is always the commercials, but in my opinion most companies simply wasted a lot of money. It seemed that "no pants" was a theme for a bunch of companies, but none of the pants-free ads were overly inspiring or funny...just creepy or downright disgusting.

Budweiser always has a popular ad whenever it trots out its Clydesdales (pun intended) and this year was no exception. The eTrade babies were all over the place, but again, they seemed somewhat played out. I’ll be surprised if any ads are “franchise builders” this year…it seemed that all the companies decided to play it safe (except GoDaddy which seems to think they can lure people to their website with promises of pseudo-pornography).

That wraps up another football season…which means spring training is around the corner! I’m going to start working on my 2010 MLB Season Preview that I like do. I can’t wait!

    Good take here ... and congrats to the Saints who earned the win.

    Overall the commercials were a let down, although there were a few good ones.

    2 FYIs for you;
    1) I posted a musical tribute this past Monday.

    2) Next Monday will feature a football to baseball transition.

    Go Reds.
