Nachos Grande Group Break: 1998 Collector's Choice Pack 04

1998 Collector's Choice
Pack 04

Pack 4 contained the first "hit" of the box (remember, this is a product geared for retail so "hit" is relative)!

44.  Scott Erickson  (Orioles)

62.  Jeff Abbott (White Sox)
72.  Eduardo Perez (Reds)

The first Red - finally!  A nice split-second photo of Perez driving for a ball.  It's tough to tell if he actually successfully caught the ball though since the ball appears to be in the heel of the glove and he's about to crash to the ground.
77.  Brian Giles (Indians)

112.  Fernando Tatis (Rangers)
115.  Mark Kotsay (Marlins)
127.  Edgar Renteria (Marlins)
137.  Yamil Benitez (Royals)
165.  Lee Smith (Expos)
226.  Derrek Lee (Padres)
230.  Jeff Kent (Giants)

245.  Juan Gonzalez (Rangers)
SQ32.  Andy Pettitte - StarQuest Special Delivery (Yankees)

Evolution Revolution - New York Mets (Mets)

The Evolution Revolution cards are seeded one in every 13 packs, so that's a nice pull.  The card itself is actually a fold out card.  The front of the card features a drawing of the Mets' jersey.  The inside features another drawing, this time of the alternate jersey, as well as a brief write-up.  The back features a full-bleed photo of a player from the featured team.  The round circle on the front of the card is a small sticker holding the card together (I'll leave it to The Brooklyn Met to decide whether or not to open the card up)!

It took awhile, but every team that was claimed in the group break finally has at least one card.  Just for fun, let's take a look at the "leaderboard":

Card Breakdown Leaderboard

Arizona Diamondbacks/Los Angeles Dodgers - BA Benny  - 2 base / 0 inserts
Atlanta Braves - Flywheels  - 4 base / 1 insert
Baltimore Orioles - RyanMemorabilia  2 base / 0 inserts
Boston Red Sox - Cardsplitter  1 base / 0 inserts
Chicago Cubs - D. Cottilo  1 base / 0 inserts
Cleveland Indians - Baseball Dad  4 base / 0 inserts
Detroit Tigers - Grand Cards  4 base / 0 inserts
New York Mets - The Brooklyn Met 0 base / 1 insert
New York Yankees - NMCLax24  1 base / 1 insert
Philadelphia Phillies - Deal  3 base / 0 inserts
Pittsburgh Pirates - NY Hitman 23 1 base / 1 inserts
St. Louis Cardinals - Ike's Cards  2 base / 0 inserts
San Francisco Giants - dfwbuck2 3 base / 0 inserts
Seattle Mariners - Dan 3 base / 0 inserts

Not bad considering that I've only ripped 5 packs so far...  Hopefully everyone is having fun following along - any guesses on which team will end up with the most base cards and which will end up with the most inserts?

  1. Woo hoo! All that waiting paid off! Hahaha, but seriously that looks like an interesting card I am excited to get to see it in person. Thanks again for holding this break.

  2. Nice grab BrooklynMet. I say the Braves will have most base and the O's will have mist inserts due to Ripken factor.

  3. 1997-99 were good years for the Tribe. I may get lucky ! As I look into my crystal ball though, I see a great pack coming soon for the Orioles.

  4. I don't have any of the Braves you've pulled thus far so this is great!
