Delivery Time! Lots'o Shiny Cards from a Jerk.

27 Shinys!

That's right, Clay from The Sports Jerks just sent me 27 shiny Topps 2011 diamond parallels to help me complete my set (and in the process he nabbed 27 entries into my Complete Sets and Other Goodies Giveaway Contest).  In return, I sent Clay a couple of cards he needed plus a pile of roughly 100 NL Central cards (spread across all six teams).

I won't scan every single shiny card, but here are a few of my favorites:

108.  Zack Greinke

The green of the grass sandwiched between the brown of the dirt makes for a card that really shines (pun intended).

224.  Milton Bradley

The scoreboard in the background, coupled with the shiny diamond technology, makes for a card that really looks unique.  The scan doesn't do this one justice, you have to hold it in person!

282.  Buster Posey

Simply a really nice looking card of one of the best young catchers in the game.  For Giants fans' sake, I hope Posey continues to produce for years to come!

Clay also sent along five assorted Reds cards, including:

2008 A Piece of History
BSM-13.  Ken Griffey Jr.  (#ed 001/149)

It's kind of cool that this card is the first of all the versions of this particular card.  I don't know anything about the Piece of History set, other than it appears there is a card for different (marginally significant) box scores.

2010 Topps National Chicle:
329.  Juan Francisco

I think I'm going to try and collect this set - or at least the base set since the short prints are fairly rare (and the set doesn't appear to be widely collected).

Thanks a lot for the trade Clay - and in case my tone wasn't clear before, it's obvious that you aren't really a jerk...no matter what your blog tries to tell us!  Finally, if anyone else would like to trade, check out my want list and make an offer!
