Group Break #5: 1999 UD HoloGrFX - Pack 2

Here we go again, it's time for another pack out of the group break.  Since the UD HoloGrFX box has the most packs, you'll be seeing quite a few of these over the next couple of days.

1999 UD HoloGrFX:
Pack 2:

5.  Jeff Bagwell - Astros

I always seem to pull a ton of Dodger cards - but I think the player I might pull the most cards of is Jeff Bagwell.
88.  Albert Belle - Orioles

You have to love late 90s cards for all the Albert Belle love...(or maybe not).

14.  Ben Grieve - Athletics

This card is actually an AUsome insert card - judging by the looks of the card, it's nothing more than a parallel with some gold coloring at the top and bottom (plus the AUsome logo at the bottom).  The backs look like the regular base card backs except the bottom is gold colored rather than silver.  The AUsome cards are seeded 1:8 packs.  I thought it was a full parallel, but according to the pack wrapper there are only 60 of the AUsome cards in the checklist (and yes, the dumb capitalization seems to be a theme with the set called HoloGrFX)...

Overall, it's really hard to get excited about any one pack of this stuff - however, I'm betting that if I were to put together the entire set it would probably look pretty cool (and defnitely shiny)!

  1. I think it's actually meant to be AuSOME. As in Au, the elemental symbol for gold. Clever. -Andy

  2. Yeah, but I was using the stupid capitalization of the pack wrapper. I think you are correct though, I didn't put two and two together too well on that one did I? I did, however, use two different numbers and a number homophone in the previous sentence.
