Gypsy Queen Break: Box 1 is Done! (Box Topper and Final Results)

First, let's take a look at the 10 mini card box topper.  After that, I'll summarize the first box for all to see.

Box 1 - Box Topper

Regular minis:
17.  Mark Teixeira - Yankees
39.  Johnny Mize - Cardinals
I think the Mize card is a regular mini.  It was at the end of the box topper though (with the rest of the inserts) and it does appear to be a shade lighter than the rest of the base mini cards.
41.  Matt Holliday - Cardinals
110.  Todd Helton - Rockies
132.  David Murphy - Rangers
169.  Orlando Hudson - Padres
250.  Joe Saunders - Diamondbacks

The Great Ones - Mini:
GO1.  Andre Dawson - Expos

Once again, all Expos cards go to the Nationals.
Home Run Heroes - Mini:
HH13.  Manny Ramirez - Red Sox

This card is kind of beat up along the top edge - it wouldn't be at all noticable though if the border wasn't a dark green/black color up there.
Future Stars - Mini:
FS14.  Mat Latos - Padres

And for fun, let's take a quick look at the break so far (one box complete):

Team with most cards:  Last time I updated, the the Orioles and White Sox were tied for the lead with 8 cards each.  Now that the entire first box has been busted, the Red Sox and Yankees are tied for the lead in terms of base cards (13 each).  The Rockies and Braves each have two short print base cards - but to be fair, both are duplicates.  The Yankees lead the pack with three regular minis while the Giants, Orioles, and Red Sox are all tied with two (large size) insert cards.  The Cardinals lead the pack with 2 serially-numbered cards (five other teams have one serially-numbered card each).  Finally, if my count is correct, the Red Sox lead with 17 total cards.

Team with fewest cards:  Last time I updated, there were two teams with only one card (Diamondbacks and Indians).  The Diamondbacks ended up picking up five cards since the last update which puts them at a respectable pile size.  The Indians, on the other hand, only managed to secure one more base card which leaves them with a whopping total of two cards in the entire box.  The Cubs are next in terms of futility with three cards (though one is a insert card).  The Marlins and Blue Jays each only have four cards (though one of the Marlins cards is a really nice relic)!

Hits found:
Three total including:
Relics:
  • Josh Johnson - Marlins
  • Matt Kemp - Dodgers

Autographs:
  • David DeJesus - Athletics

Serially-numbered cards:
Seven total:
  • 6 Framed Papers
  • 1 Sepia toned mini

I've been keeping track of all the statistics on a piece of paper, so I can't promise all my counts are 100% accurate, but they should be close.  If you want to see the full standings so far, here's my piece of paper - good luck figuring it all out!

Comments

  1. The Mize card is a Yankee as opposed to a Cardinal, correct? Thanks for posting the rundown - cool to see the stats/hits all in one place.

  2. The Mize is the 1 hobby mini box exclusive varient mini. If you look at the corresponding base card for thae number on the back of the Mize, you'll see that they have different pictures. There is one varient per hobby mini box.
