Box Break: 2001 Topps Gold Label - The Final Two Packs (and a Hit)!
It's finally time to reveal the final two packs out of the 2001 Topps Gold Label birthday box. If I have time, I'll try to put together a summary post highlighting the entire box (not that many of you are probably rushing out to buy product that is a decade old but you never know)! Anyhow, here are the final two packs:
Pack 23:
16. Brian Giles
30. Eric Karros
46. Jeff Bagwell
80. Pat Burrell
And a class 2 serially-numbered parallel of:
1. Adrian Beltre (#ed 634/699)
That's the third Beltre card from the box (I ended up pulling a duplicate of his base card).
Pack 24:
20. Charles Johnson
39. Ivan Rodriguez (this is the third Rodriguez base card of the box, ouch!)
52. Jim Edmonds
74. Miguel Tejada
and the hit of the box...
GLR-BW. Bernie Williams
The bat relics are the rarer of the two relic sets (bats are seeded 1:54 packs while jerseys are seeded 1:43 cards). I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed in landing a Yankee as my only box hit (for my birthday no less) but the design of the card is quite nice! I'd LOVE to trade this card for the Barry Larkin relic in the set - that'd make my birthday gift complete!
All told, it was a fun product to open. I'll have my final review in an upcoming post (hopefully) - finals are around the corner though so things might slow down even more on my blog until the semester is over...
