Barry Larkin Collection 346: 1995 Score Summit - #10

Barry Larkin
Year:  1995
Brand:  Score Summit
Card number:  10

The 1995 Score Summit set was a hobby only release that came on a rather thick card stock.  Barry Larkin actually has three cards in the set - the regular base card that I own, a parallel card called Nth Degree, and a card that was given out as "an 8 1/2" by 14 1/2" black portfolio in complete set form along with dealer sell sheets. Each card had the word "SAMPLE" printed on both sides." (source:  Baseballcardpedia).  As of the time I am writing this post, I do not own the sample variation nor the Nth Degree parallel card - I still have a fair bit of work to do with this set!

Turning our attention to the actual card, the front of the card is sort of weird in the way that Score chose to crop the photo.  The right side of Larkin features a background plus what appears to be either a Cubs' or Dodgers' catcher.  The left side of the same image is plain white.  It's a bit jarring to be honest...and I'm not totally convinced that I like it.

The back of the card features a second image of Larkin (without any weird cropping issues) plus a month-by-month breakdown of his hitting statistics for the previous year.  The month-by-month thing will always be a Bowman/Stadium Club idea in my head but I think Score did an alright job with their attempt.  All things considered, this is a nice card for my collection but I don't think I'll actively seek out non-Larkin card from this set.  I will, however, be on the lookout for the two cards that I am currently missing from the set!
