I'm back to continue my romp through the first box out of my 2015 Topps Allen & Ginter case. As usual, I'll summarize the contents of a group of packs rather than give a card-by-card breakdown. And, as usual, we begin with the base cards!
Box 1:
Packs 13 - 16:
The next group of packs was quite good to me in terms of Reds. I pulled both Todd Frazier and Joey Votto (see above for his scan). I happened to choose Votto as my favorite player for Gint-a-Cuffs so hopefully I pull another one of his cards in that box!
I also pulled a short print in each of the four packs - that gives me 13 for the box (when the odds would suggest I would only get 12 for the entire box). And that's with another eight packs remaining to be opened! Perhaps I should have saved this box for Gint-a-Cuffs with all those short prints!!
Sticking with the regular sized cards, I pulled two more Starting Points (giving me eight for the box so far). I also pulled my first regular sized 10th Anniversary base card - Jason Bay from 2010 Ginter.
As I said before, I don't really get the appeal of the buyback card. I think I'll be unloading these on eBay unless I hear from someone saying they are interested ASAP!
Packs 13-16 provided two other full sized inserts including another Menagerie of the Mind.
That's the Troll - mostly creatures of Norse mythology and Scandinavian folklore according to the card back. I always think of Trolls as living under bridges but the card says that Trolls are also known to live in castles. I don't think it's the best image that Topps could have chosen but I'm still a fan of the insert set as a whole.
Speaking of cool insert sets, here's my first Great Scott! card.
I can't imagine the difficulty of designing (and then actually inserting) the first artificial heart. When you think about it, it's amazing what man has managed to accomplish (both in medicine and in space)!
My minis were an assorted bunch this time including a pair of regular back minis - one of which was a short print (Brett Gardner). The regular back mini short prints are seeded 1:13 packs making them a bit rarer than two-per-box. Good luck to anyone who is contemplating putting together the entire mini set!
The third mini was my first black bordered mini - and it's a player on a virtually untradeable Diamondbacks team... That said, black bordered minis are seeded 1:10 packs so I should expect a second such black bordered mini in the box!
Finally, the fourth and final mini is the best of the bunch - my first Mythological Menaces card!
And yes, that's a Coyote rowing a canoe, why do you ask?!
Of course, here's the obligatory "I WANT ALL YOUR MINI INSERTS" line of text. So far, I have a whopping three mini inserts so I've got a ways to go!
Last, but certainly not least, we arrive at our second hit of the box - another relic but this time it is a baseball player.
That's Brian McCann in a nice 10th Anniversary relic design. I will forever prefer the framed relics but even I can admit that this is a pretty nice design for a full-sized relic card. I'm guessing someone out there wants this one but if not, to eBay it will go.
All told, that was a fun batch of packs - getting a few new inserts is always a highlight for me (and pulling hits is fun even if they are Yankees). I've still got another eight packs to go with box #1 - so stay tuned for more soon!

Nice McCann hit! The buyback is dumb to me. I don't understand why it's more special than the .08 version of that same card, readily available on SportsLots or something. Weird.
