2015 Topps Allen & Ginter: Box 3 - Box Topper and Packs 1 - 4 (Beginning with an Autograph!)

We are about to begin busting the third box of the Allen & Ginter case!  The first two boxes have been fun with the best card (so far) being the wood mini of Torii Hunter.  Here's hoping for some more cool stuff in box #3!

Box 3:
Box Topper:

This is the second Pride of the People box toppers that I've pulled - and I'm happy about that because I think I might actually try and collect the full set.  I've never been to France (or Paris in particular) but I know my wife wants to go there more than anywhere else in the world...  I should probably try to make that happen sooner rather than later!

Packs 1 - 4:

Will box #3 have as many short prints as the first two boxes?  If the first four packs are any indication, perhaps the answer is yes since three of the four packs contained a short print!  The Murray card, however, is not a short print.  I just thought that the image was goofy enough that it was worthy of a scan!

I ended up with a nice collection of minis including a regular back Hyun-Jin Ryu, an A&G back Andrelton Simmons, and a black bordered Stephen Strasburg.  If you are going to pull a black bordered mini, it might as well be one of the stars of the set!  The real hero of the mini world from this set of four packs though was the Hoist the Black Flag card of Henry Every.

The pirate minis are the best!  According to the card back, Every was known as the "King of Pirates" back in the 1690s.  He was never captured and retired with his wealth in tact - not an easy feat for a pirate!

The first four packs produced the first (of presumably 3) buyback cards.  This time we go all the way back to 2009 for a Carlos Gomez buyback.  No scan for that because no one cares.  People might care about a dragon though!

That's another Menagerie of the Minds - the first of this box and so far, so good when it comes to getting new cards for my set!  I used to play a lot of Skyrim so dragons are always going to be cool to me (or, if you go back to when I was a kid, I used to play with LEGO dragons a lot)!

The only other full-sized insert of note was an Ancient Armory card of a Katana but I didn't scan it since it wasn't the most exciting image.  Instead, you get a scan of the first hit of the box - and my second autograph in three boxes!

Admittedly, pulling a Brandon Finnegan autograph wasn't the most exciting...I think I've pulled two, maybe three of his autographs already this year (the others being in group breaks)!  That said, a framed auto is always welcome - and it's a fun way to start box #3!

  1. Oh man I need to find a copy of that box topper for my Eiffel Tower collection!

  2. I'm a little bummed Topps didn't capture the full height of the tower on the card.

  3. Yes but the overall image quality on the box toppers this year is WAY above what Topps usually does. They don't look nearly so pixelated, blurry, and downright crappy like many past box toppers have.

  4. I was just in Paris a couple months ago. Great city and a lot of fun, but you really have to be on the lookout for pickpockets. I almost got hit on the rain, and there are tons of signs at the Eiffel Tower. Otherwise, absolutely fascinating and I highly recommend the catacombs if/when you go.

  5. And now Brandon Finnegan is a Red thanks to the Johnny Cueto trade! That autograph just got a LOT better for me!!

  6. First you pull a Cole the day he no-nos. Now you pull a Brandon Finnegan the day he's traded to your team. Is there anything else your A&G case would like to tell us all about the future?
