Tade Stack 72: Two Customs Make the Stack Reach 20 Cards!

Here is how this works:
Every so often (i.e. whenever I feel like it), I will add a card to a "Trade Stack".  Whenever the stack becomes appealing enough to someone, that person needs to comment on the post saying they'd like to claim the stack AND tell me which card they are sending off of my want list.  That's all you have to do - trade me ONE card (or more, of course) card from my want list for the entire stack of cards that I'm offering.  Each time, it will be first come, first serve...so act quickly (unless of course you are a gambler and hope to wait it out until there are 10+ cards in the stack that you want in exchange for a single 2004 UD Vintage card that I am looking for)!

The Trade Stack:
Last update:  6/30/16

A couple of nights ago, I went through the top ten blogs on my blog list and checked each blogger's want list.  Those that I had any cards from ended up with an email from me saying that I had set some cards aside (so check your email - a couple of you haven't yet responded to my request for your updated address).  I guess you could say I'm in the mood for trading these days...or at least getting rid of many of my extras.

In that light, I've hastened the addition of cards in the Trade Stack - adding six cards in one swoop last time, plus three at once another time.  Today, I'm adding two more to make the stack reach an even 20 cards in size.  Not just any two cards this time though, but two of the awesome customs created by my buddy Ryan!

That's right, you have the chance to nab a couple of the "high number" minis from his custom set - and for my money, that George Springer card is one of the best minis in the set!  Act now! Remember that you get this card plus all the others in the Trade Stack in exchange for at least one card off of my want list.

1994 Fleer: Feel the Bern.

This is the third consecutive day that I've posted a pack out of my 1994 Fleer baseball box.  I don't plan to bombard everyone with a pack (or more) per day, but it's worked out that way this week since I'm in the midst of cleaning up my basement (aka "man cave") and posts like this are relatively easy to work out!

Anyhow, here's the third pack - and it's the first with multiple Reds' cards in it...plus it is the first pack to not have a Prospects insert card.

Pack 3:
214.  Pat Meares
251.  Bernie Williams

276.  Bob Welch
312.  Charlie Leibrandt
317.  Geno PEtralli
333. Juan Guzman
392. Randy Myers
402.  Willie Wilson
410.  Willie Greene
430.  Jerry Spradlin
574.  Charlie O'Brien
641.  Tom Pagnozzi
679.  Tim Worrell
719.  Checklist

That Checklist is a stealth Twins' card - look carefully in the background of the card!
All-Stars:  11.  Pat Hentgen

These are some of the most patriotic cards out there - though in the case of Canada's Toronto Blue Jays, shouldn't there be a Canadian flag in the background instead?!  Even so, it's a nice card design!
I'm definitely enjoying my slow rip through the Fleer box.  I still haven't found any cards from the 1 - 200 number range which seems weird, but otherwise all is good!

Box Break: 1994 Fleer: An Underrated Gem of a Set!

I'm back with the second pack out of my 1994 Fleer box - and this time the pack is actually the thickness it ought to be...15 cards in all their '94 glory!

Pack 2:
204.  Mark Guthrie
221.  George Tsamis
It took me two packs to even realize that the cards in the set are ordered by team - a very Fleer-like thing to do!  As a set collector, I kind of like having the set divided up by teams...but ONLY if it is a single series set!
265.  Rick Honeycutt
299.  Brian Turang
323.  Matt Whiteside
344.  Todd Stottlemyre
345.  Mike Timlin
372.  Terry Pendleton
411.  Thomas Howard

First Reds' card out of the box.
509.  Jim Gott
518.  Raul Mondesi
580.  Anthony Young
633. Gregg Jefferies

I'd be remiss if I didn't show off at least one card back from the set - they are nicely designed (with full career statistics no less)!
651.  Todd Zeile
Major League Prospects:  19.  Steve Karsay

The design of the Major League Prospects cards is solid - I especially like the large team logo in the background.  However, as I said before, I won't be chasing this particular insert set so any cards that I pull from the set are available for trade (not that there are a lot of people out there clamoring for Athletics cards but whatever).

Last update:  6/26/16

I'm sick and tired of staring at this Trade Stack sitting on my desk - and I'm getting anxious to complete some trades...so let's up the ante on the Trade Stack with the hopes of enticing someone out there.  For tonight's addition to the pile, we go from 12 cards to 18 cards.  That's right, I'm adding six cards at once tonight!

Speaking of the six cards, you get a team (full?  partial?) set of the Marlins from 2013 Topps Heritage.  That's six Marlins for you collection...plus a slew of other cool cards.  Surely someone wants the pile!

Finally, remember that you get this card plus all the others in the Trade Stack in exchange for at least one card off of my want list.

The Next Baseball Card Box that I'm Breaking!

Tomorrow is a big day for my "man cave" in that the electrician is supposed to come and install all the new lights (3 new wall lights, 1 new ceiling light, and 1 new "track light" system for above the TV).  Once he's done, I'll be able to start putting the rest of my stuff away...and hanging up the rest of the stuff on the walls as well (here's a preview of the first part of my man cave makeover).

Anyhow, since I can't yet start putting stuff away, I might as well make more of a mess, right?  A few days (actually a month ago), I posted my progress in reorganizing my baseball cards from 1994.  One of the things that came out of my reorganization efforts is that I decided that I would chase after the 1994 Fleer set - a seriously underrated gem of cardboard from the mid-90s.

In the time after I wrote that post, I scoured eBay and found a cheap, unopened box of 1994 Fleer which I nabbed.  And yes, that's the next box that I'm busting here at Nachos Grande!

The 1994 Fleer box contains a whopping 36 packs with 15 cards per pack (and the box itself is heavy)!  The set contains 720 cards - so I'm hopeful I'll make solid progress on completing the set thanks to this one box.  In addition to the base cards, there are 9 insert sets including Tim Salmon AL Rookie of the Year cards (woo?).

There are three different Barry Larkin cards in the set - one base card and two inserts - but I already own all three.  Therefore, my main goal for this box is simply to get a huge chunk of the base set completed...and hopefully find some other fun stuff along the way.

Are you ready to step back in time with me?  Here we go!

---------------

*Rips Open the Plastic Wrapping*

--------------

That's weird.  The first pack out of the box felt extremely thin...in fact, it only held eight cards.  The remaining packs in the box all seem to be full (15 cards) though.  Super weird...and it was a sealed box so there shouldn't be any foul play involved.  Oh well, I guess we'll start off a little bit slower with only an eight card pack!

-------------

Pack 1:

358.  Ron Gant
505.  Pedro Astacio
554.  Larry Walker
563.  Dwight Gooden

625.  Bob Walk
660.  Phil Clark
671.  Melvin Nieves

Major League Prospects:  25.  Nate Michey

I know I won't be chasing the Major League Prospects insert set - so if you want that Minchey let me know!  As for the rest of the pack, other than being only 50% of the size of a 'normal' pack, it was bad - certainly some star power was there with Gooden, Walker, and even Gant to a certain extent.
There was also a nice mix of action shots (such as Gooden's photo) and posed shots (as we got with Nieves).  All told, a strange start to the box...but since the rest of the packs appear to be full I won't let it get me down.  I'll have more from this box as the days/weeks move forward - and when I'm done I'll get a list of what I'm still missing up on my blog with the hopes that I'll be able to finish off the base set before the year is out!

Hoping to Make Some Cash (and Some Trades)?

I spent the better part of my afternoon putting my 2015 Topps Stadium Club set in a binder - and then I sorted through my duplicates and posted my full trade list on my blog.  I also decided to throw some of the "better" cards on eBay with the hopes of making a few bucks (find my listings here).

What cards did I list on eBay?  All of the following...feel free to bid if any interest you - and if you need any other cards from 2015 TSC, check out my Trade Bait page (includes plenty of other parallels and inserts as well)!

Carlos Baerga auto (link)
Triumvirate Lot of 2:  Bryce Harper & Anthony Rendon (link)

Foilboard Manny Machado #10/25 Parallel (link)

Black & White w/ Orange Foil:  Adrian Beltre (only 17 were made) (link)

Carlos Santana Members Only Case Hit (only 7 were made) (link)

I also listed a couple of non-Stadium Club cards that I had lying around...

Ken Griffey Jr. Heritage short print (link)

Joaquin Benoit Allen & Ginter No Number mini (link)

I put every starting bid quite low (most are 99 cents in fact) with the hopes of being able to raise a bit of quick cash.  Depending on how this round goes, I do have a few other cards that I may try to sell in the future.  As always, any support is appreciated!

FOR TRADE: 2015 Topps Stadium Club (Base, Inserts, & Parallels)

I'm looking to acquire anything from my want list (link here).

I have the following 2015 Topps Stadium Club cards available for trade.

Barry Larkin Collection 459: 1997 Score - #242 - Premium Stock Parallel

Barry Larkin
Year:  1997
Brand:  Score
Parallel set:  Premium Stock
Card number:  242

In 1997, Score included a Premium Stock parallel in their Series I packs (Premium Stock would be renamed Hobby Reserve for Series II and would be printed on thinner cardboard stock and without the gray border).  Luckily for Larkin collectors, Barry's base card landed in Series I which meant he got the "better" of the two parallel options.  It should be noted that Barry does have a True Grit subset card in Series II (which I also own the Hobby Reserve parallel version of - a card I'll highlight on the blog soon)!

For now though, let's look at the Premium Stock card.  First, the card stock is thicker than your normal card which is nice.  I could do without the hideous foil stamp on the front though.  I could also do without the dull gray border - something a little snazzier would have been nice!  Other than that though, the card is exactly the same as the regular base card from the set - something I've already written about here.

Trade Stack 72: A Full Dozen Cards (Including Duke Snider, Topps Gold Label, & Tulo Die-Cut)!

Last update:  6/26/16

After tonight's addition to the Trade Stack, the pile holds a dozen different cards - and all of those could be yours for the low, low cost of at least one card from my want list!  Speaking of tonight's addition to the pile, it's a good one!

I have always loved Topps Gold Label - and someday I hope to track down a box or two of the product to open up for myself.  Tonight's addition to the Trade Stack is from Topps Gold Label - and it's a nice one for anyone who is a fan of the brand, or a fan of the Blue Jays.

Couple tonight's newest card with guys like Pedro Martinez and Duke Snider (already in the stack), plus a nice die-cut insert of Tulowitzki and I have to think this Stack won't last much longer before someone claims it.  Will that someone be you?

Finally, remember that you get this card plus all the others in the Trade Stack in exchange for at least one card off of my want list.
