Ginter Release Day: RIP Gint-a-Cuffs?

So today is a big day for me, it's release day for my (usually) favorite set of the year:  Allen & Ginter.  It's also a bit bittersweet this year because it appears that Gint-a-Cuffs isn't going to happen.  If you don't know, Gint-a-Cuffs has been an annual contest on the blogs where the best box wins (here "best" is determined by a set of crazy, twisted rules).  I never actually won the contest, but simply participating added another level of fun while opening up my boxes of Allen & Ginter.

The other bummer for me this year is that I could only afford to buy four boxes of Ginter.  In fact, those four boxes are the first hobby boxes of any 2017 product that I have bought for myself this year...so at least I will have something to rip (I'm impatiently waiting for UPS to deliver my boxes as I type this up).

Anyhow, long story short:  I do still plan on trying to collect the full Allen & Ginter base set, plus all of the inserts (regular sized and mini sized).  Therefore, as you start to open up your packs of Allen & Ginter, please keep me in mind for any inserts you don't want.  I'd love to work out some trades in the near future (and I should have some duplicates myself to trade away).

That's it for now...all I can do is wait for my boxes...

  1. I'm not a big fan of A&G, and haven't ever opened more than an occasional pack, but I enjoyed reading all the Gint-A-Cuffs posts and I'll miss them.

  2. I say we should just GAC our boxes and give it our own score. Cuz why the hell not?

  3. I didn't realize we haven't had any "Here comes GAC" post yet until you mentioned it. I've only participated once, but it was quite fun. I actually wouldn't mind being the commissioner for GAC in 2018 and bringing the contest back if I could get a little help from Topps on the prize and Mark Aubrey's blessing.

  4. Mark Aubrey just updated the Gint-a-Cuffs Facebook page with a reference to the 2017 set.

  5. He also posted a call for entries on the GAC blog. If he gets enough interest, he'll put together a list for this year's points.
