The countdown of the 90 best 2005 Upper Deck Past Time Pennants base cards continues. Today, we move into the top 75!
#75: Graig Nettles
The Nettles card is another card that depicts the physical determination that is necessary to hit a baseball traveling at 90+ mph. You also have to love the stirrups - a great card to kick of the top 75!
#74: Dale Murphy
As someone who isn't ever going to be a professional photographer, I enjoy seeing photos where the action is so nicely captured. In Murphy's case, you can see the ball moments before it collides with his bat. He's obviously put a nice level swing on the ball so this is probably headed to a gap in the outfield somewhere. My best guess is that this is one of his 350 career doubles.
#73: Goose Gossage:
The Yankees are well represented within the Past Time Pennants set - so much so that two of the three cards in this section of the countdown wear the pinstripes. To make matters worse (for non-Yankee fans), the next bit of the countdown will feature yet another Yankee! As for the Gossage card, I like it because you can see his grip on the baseball. This card serves as a nice counterpoint to the Murphy and Nettles cards - namely, the pitcher has to use a lot of concentration to get the bat wielding batters out!
