It's time to continue the one-per-day countdown themed posts for the month of November. So far, so good in terms of one post per day! Today, we move into the middle third of the set.
#60: Tommy John
For current fans of baseball, Tommy John is probably better known as a type of surgery rather than as a pitcher (and a good pitcher at that). John's 26-year career left him 12 wins shy of 300.
#59: George Kell
According to the card back, Kell never batted below .300 in his six seasons with Detroit. He ended up playing for a total of 15 years and hit .306 over his entire career (though his best years were undoubtedly with Detroit - twice there he hit over .340)!
#58: Monte Irvin
For some reason, this photo looks like it was taken in a big top tent at the circus. I wish it were in color so that I could see the bright red and blue canvas tent...
