PWE Week: Envelope #5/7 Brought to You by 2 by 3 Heroes!

This morning, I posted the fourth (of seven) PWEs that are part of my "guess the combined zip code total" contest.  It's now time for the fifth envelope which traveled to my house from Illinois - and it brings our total score up over 200,000.  To be precise, our current score is now 200,418 with only two more envelopes remaining!

I went through and entered every guess in an Excel spreadsheet - and I thought I would share the update with you here on the blog:

Name Guess
View from the Skybox 16000
Mark Hoyle 18500
Brian Conrad 124396
John Hazen 155000
Wilson Guess 2 180000
Al Kawamoto 199999
Marc 246802
Josh D 250052
JediJeff 275999
Wilson Guess 1 288886
dgao 300000

arpsmith 324500

TTG 350028
The Dutch Card Guy 375000
defgav 400000
Richard Nebe Jr.  417507
madding 490000
Greg Zakwin 1000000
Alex Markle 1000001
As you can see, we have five people eliminated so far (remember it's the closest to the actual zip code total without going over).  At this point, Al Kawamoto is leading the pack but he has to hope that the next two envelopes have a total zip code sum of 46802 or less!  If we go over that, then Marc, Josh D. and Jedi Jeff would be the next three in line for the prize!  That'd be fitting since Mr. JediJeff (of the wonderful 2 by 3 Heroes blog) happened to be the one who bestowed this particular PWE on me!

Awhile back I sent Jeff a card that I thought was total junk - one of the worst miscut cards I have ever pulled out of pack...but wouldn't you know it, one man's trash is another man's personal collection!

Obviously Jeff must have liked it well enough because he sent me a full envelope of goodies!

When I opened the PWE, I was greeted by a note reading "I've pulled 4 black '14 GQ minis - 3 of them were Reds.  WTH?"

Well, WTH must stand for "way too happy" because that's what I was when I laid eyes on these three little beauties!

I never seem to pull minis of my team - especially not rare minis like the black bordered minis so these were much appreciated (of course, I haven't pulled a single 2014 Gypsy Queen card since I haven't bought a pack of the stuff yet this year)!  Each of the minis is numebred out of 199 which makes them that much cooler too!

Jeff also sent me this die cut Aroldis Chapman card from 2012 Bowman Chrome.

It's printed on really thing card stock which seems odd - but the card itself is pretty cool.  What can I say - I'm a sucker for die cuts I guess!

The next card was this Eric Davis popup card.

This was from the 1987 All-Star game - perhaps a giveaway if you attended?  I'm not really sure - and while I would love to pop the card up I think I'll leave it in pristine condition since I'm starting up an Eric Davis mini collection!

Speaking of player collections, Jeff also hooked me up with five cards for my main collection:  Barry Larkin!
As usual, the Larkins will get their own chance to shine in individual posts as part of my ongoing Barry Larkin Collection!

Many thanks for the great PWE - and as always, if anyone else would like to trade check out my want list and make an offer!

  1. You can also start eliminating from the top-side, too. Anyone over 400,416 is going to be over at this point.

  3. I pulled that pop up from a nickel box. The guy had a TON of them. If I see him again, I'll pull a 2nd one so you can stand it up.
