2015 Topps Allen & Ginter: Box 2 - Packs 13 - 16 (Locating Hit #2 of the Box)

Here we go, four more packs from Box #2.

Box 2:
Packs 13 - 16:

Another four packs, another four short prints.  I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the short prints are cards 301-350 given how many I've pulled so far...  No matter, the Chapman is the best of the bunch this time around (easy choice)!

For the minis, I pulled a pair of regular backed minis including a Zack Cozart (another Red!) and a Malala Yousafzai short printed mini.  Not bad at all.  In addition, there was a single A&G back mini (Torii Hunter).  This is a Torii Hunter hot box I guess!  The final mini is the only one that I decided to scan - and that's because it is one of the elusive mini inserts that I am trying to acquire!

That is Nancy Reagan, perhaps one of the most famous first ladies of my generation (though I'm too young to really remember her).  According to her card back, she was best known for her "Just Say No" crusade against drugs.

Speaking of "Just Say No," I say no to these 10th Anniversary full-sized buybacks.  I'll give the framed mini buybacks a pass because framed cards are always cool...but the full-sized cards with a gold stamp on 'em?  No thanks.

That's Cameron Maybin representing 2012 Ginter...you know, all of three years ago.  Oye.

The rest of the full-sized cards are better including another Ancient Armory card.

That is a Taiaha, the weapon of choice for the Maori (indigenous people of New Zealand).  I don't have much to add about that other than I've been to New Zealand once and I liked the country quite a bit (though the plane ride is too long for my tastes)!

The penultimate card of this post is another Great Scott card.

How can you not look at that card and get the theme song from The Big Bang Theory in your head?!

Finally, we found our 10th anniversary relic.

Once again, I'm underwhelmed by the relic choice - this time it is Leonys Martin of the Rangers.  The card back says he is a "star outfielder" but I'm not so sure about that.  Then again, maybe he is...when was the last time I watched the Rangers play anyhow?!

That's it for this group - still one more hit to be found!

  1. From what I've found on the internet it looks as though there are no short printed cards from 1-350 this year. If I recall correctly, previous A&G sets had the last fifty cards as SPs, but not the tenth anniversary set for some reason. Maybe Topps is trying to balance things out with the SPs after the SP Archives fiasco?
BUT, the minis numbered 301-350 are SPs.

  2. Yeah, you are correct in that the cards 301+ are not short printed (as base cards) but they are short printed in terms of all the mini parallels. A bit weird for sure!
