I'm back with another box break recap from my Breaker's Club #4. A couple of weeks ago, I busted three boxes (2021 Topps Stadium Club which I already recapped) plus a box of 1994 Topps Stadium Club and a box of 1996 Leaf Preferred. I've fallen behind on my box recaps so here's a quick look at the '96 Leaf Preferred box!
The box of 1996 Leaf Preferred came with 16 packs (with 6 cards per pack). The main "gimmick" of the set is that each pack comes with a solid steel card. However, before I show off the steel cards let's take a quick look at some of my favorite base cards from the box.
The design of the set is definitely quite nice - especially with the splash of team colors on each card!
Our box also featured a pair of Barry Larkin cards - one regular base card and one gold parallel (the only gold parallel in the box, I might add)!
Obviously, getting a parallel of a Larkin card made this box a hit for me!
Speaking of hits, on to the main event - the steel cards!
Our other steel cards from the box included:
- Chuck Knoblauch (Twins)
- Jason Isringhausen (Mets)
- Charles Johnson (Marlins)
- Gregg Jefferies (Phillies)
- Moises Alou (Expos)
- Rondell White (Expos)
- Jim Edmonds (Angels)
- Juan Gonzalez (Rangers)
- Craig Biggio (Astros) x2
Kind of a bummer to get duplicate steel cards of Biggio but otherwise we had a nice mix of teams represented!
That does it for this box - a fun box for sure!

In the scans this design for the Reds cards made me think it was a Kahns set.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you picked up that Larkin parallel. I don't think I have any of those metal cards, so happy to snag the Isringhausen.
ReplyDeleteNacho, I love the steel inserts, and built the set by buying lots. Picked up some steel gold cards too. But somehow, I did not know that the base set of Leaf had a parallel. lol. learn something new every day.
ReplyDeleteBrett, if you're a trader, I have a big inventory of 96 Leaf Preferred Steel inserts. "abide" on TCDb, Sports Card Forum, Blowout & Freedom Cardboard
Wow, steel cards! Thanks for showing off the set!
