Finding the Shiny on Sportlots!

Who's ready for some shiny Larkin cards from the 90s?  If you know anything about me, you know that I'm certainly ready for such cards!  A few days ago, I found myself with a bit of free time and so I headed over to Sportlots to see if I could land one of the late 90s Topps Gold Label Barry Larkin cards that I still needed (I'm such a sucker for the Gold Label brand of that era).

As luck would have it, I did find a nice affordable (and needed) Gold Label card - this one being a Class 2 parallel from the 1999 Topps Gold Label set.

I love, love, love the team logo in the background of the card - and that team logo design changes based on the Class parallel version which is a nice touch!

The same seller also had a second Larkin card that I needed for cheap so I also grabbed this 1996 Topps Chrome card:

For as much as I love sets like Gold Label, I never really got into the whole Topps Chrome craze.  That being said, I'm still happy to have this one in the collection now!  With the Chrome card now tucked away in my binder, my collection of Larkin cards from the year 1996 now sits at 63.83% complete.  Given that the year has 188 total Larkin cards, I'd say that's a solid success for a budget collector such as myself.

I've got a lot more Sportlots goodies to show off in the near future - in fact, I recently tried their "Sportlots box" method of shipping so now I have a big cardboard box waiting for me to sort through.  I'll have more on that in future posts, for sure!

  1. Ah yes, the joys of shifting through a Box shipment. The fun...and the work!

The Gold label Larkin looks sharp! I was always partial to the logo-in-background class myself.

  3. I was way more into Gold Label than Chrome too. But that's because every Gold Label card was shiny. If every Chrome card was a refractor, I'd probably love that set too :D

  4. Gold Label wasn't one of my favorite brands. That being said, your Larkin is pretty snazzy.
