Box #2 of 2024 Allen & Ginter from my Case! (A Box Full of the Wrong Pirates' Rookie)

The first box I opened out of my case of 2024 Allen & Ginter was amazing (seriously, check out the recap here).  Is there any way that box #2 can live up to the standard set by the first box?  (spoiler alert:  no, there is not.)

Alright, so this box isn't as grand as the first one out of the case but it's still worth taking a look at.  This time around, I won't be scanning and going over every single insert but rather I'll simply show off what I feel are the highlights out of the box.

With that in mind, let's begin with the box topper.

My "luck" in pulling Dodgers continues, that's now back-to-back boxes with a Dodger for the box topper (last time it was Ohtani).

Next, we move on to the full-sized parallels:

For me, the easy highlight is the Elly De La Cruz Chrome rookie.  I suppose the Churio is nice as well, though that one is headed for eBay most likely.  I also got the wrong Pirates rookie in the Chrome treatment.  The Seager is a Chrome Refractor (and Ginter does look quite nice with the Refractor treatment)!

Moving to the mini cards:

My box produced two more black bordered minis along with a single Chrome mini (I got a different wrong Pirates' rookie as my Chrome mini)!

For me, the highlight of most boxes of Allen & Ginter is the mini inserts and in this case, box #2 delivered nicely for me with another five minis that I'll need for my various set builds (and yes, I'm going to try and build all of these sets so if you end up with any you don't want or need, please let me know)!!

The Flags of the World are an obvious favorite for me given that I'm also collecting the original A&G flags sets from the 1800s.  Even more of a given is a card celebrating Nachos - that very food is what gave rise to the name of this blog!

Finally, the three promised hits.

I'll admit that this batch does almost nothing for me personally...after all, who wants two Brewers and a Yankee as your three (boring) relic bits?  The only good thing I can say here is that at least two of the three relic bits are something other than boring white or gray.  The pinstripe on Torres' card is nice as is the dark blue bit used for Contreras' card.  Still, as a Reds fan, pulling two Brewers and a Yankee as the only hits in the box seems like some sort of bizarre punishment.

With that dud of an ending, we've now completed two of the twelve boxes in the case.  I hope to do more box recaps moving forward, so stay tuned for more Allen & Ginter goodies in the near future!

  1. Nachos are a must for any sporting event. I'm gonna need to track down that insert.
