Before we get to today's post, I wanted to give another friendly reminder that I'm currently taking nominations for my 5th Annual End-of-Year Awards. This year's awards will include honoring baseball card sets and bloggers, so please nominate your favorites right now!
At least today I have something to distract me while I wait for the turkey to baste and the pies to bake, and that's a trade envelope from TCDB.
My lone trade package of the week comes courtesy of TCDB user SaintOrm. I was able to swing a deal for a shiny 2012 Panini Cooperstown Crystal Collection Red parallel of Barry Larkin, numbered out of 399 copies.
I like the shiny look of the above card quite a bit. The flashy red works well for a Cincinnati Reds card (even though in this case, Larkin's photo is in black and white). I guess Panini tries to make the Reds' logo hidden by using the frame of the card to block Barry's helmet. Unfortunately, that simply makes the photo look like it was poorly cropped for the frame, but hey, on the bright side, it's nowhere near the worst-designed Barry Larkin card in the 2012 Panini Cooperstown set!
There are still a few more cards that I need from the 2012 Panini Cooperstown set, but I'm always happy to knock off a serially numbered card from my want list!
In the above list, a "No" means I still need it. The Crystal Collection is #/299, and the Crystal Collection Blue is #/499. Of course, I also need the autograph from the set, but that's true of almost every set that contains Barry's signature (I tend to refuse to pay the standard going rate for Barry Larkin autographs)!
