Board Game Friday: January 2026 Board Game Arena Plays

We've made it through one full month of 2026, and (as of tomorrow), we'll be halfway through our second month of the year!  That's a cause for celebration if you ask me.  Another thing worth celebrating is finding time for fun, and for me, that takes the form of boardgaming.  More specifically, for today, I'm here to talk about the online boardgames that I played throughout January.

Overall, January was a great month for online gaming.  That's a nice side effect of it being so cold (and windy) out lately. I simply stay inside and play games!  In total, I played 117 games and won 64 of those (54.7% win rate).  Here's the entire list of what I got to the virtual table:

As you can see, I've become a big fan of Forest Shuffle.

It took me several plays to get the hang of the tempo of Forest Shuffle.  The rules aren't complicated, but I think you need a few games under your belt to get a feel for what combos to look for (and when to look for them).  I'm still not great at the game, but I've been holding my own against stronger and stronger competition, which is really all I can ask for at this point!

Speaking of stronger competition, I joined in several online tournaments in January (many of which have continued into February).  That has certainly helped to inflate my Forest Shuffle totals (as well as both 7 Wonders Duel and Azul).  I didn't take the time to learn any new games in January, so the above list is a "greatest hits" of games on the platform (at least from my perspective)!
