Nachos Grande Group Break #7: The Official Sign-Up Page!

That's right ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the next Nachos Grande group break.  This may be the last group break that I host for quite awhile - I would like to sneak in one more in late July/early August but that might not be possible...thus, I tried to make this one appeal to everyone!

Once again, my group break is sponsored by the good folks over at Baseball Card Exchange.

Awhile back, I asked you, my readers, to go to their site and pick out some boxes that you'd like to see busted.  Based on your comments, I did exactly that - as you'll soon see!

Group break details:

Cost:  $20.00 (includes shipping) for two teams.

Just like last time, I am going to have 15 slots where you pick your team.  I will then random off the remaining 15 teams (at which point trading is allowed should you desire).

Now, what do you get for the price of a blaster?  Well, two teams' worth of cards for one - but let's see what is in store in the five boxes that I am breaking!

First up:

2006 Topps Bazooka:
24 packs (8 cards per pack) = 192 cards
3 guaranteed relics

The Topps Bazooka box has three game-used relics inside it.  There is also an outside chance at an autograph (include Alex Rodriguez).  I enjoy having a lower-end set in the group break for a couple of reasons, first thing is that with 192 cards every team ought to get something.  Second, the set is loaded with fun stuff - not only are there the three autos, but there are also plenty of parallel cards, stickers, comics, and stamps!

Next, we have:

2002 Topps Stadium Club - Relic Edition
24 packs (6 cards per pack) = 144 cards
1 guaranteed relic

If you recall, two group breaks ago I had a relic edition box of Stadium Club that yielded two relics - one of which was a dual relic of Albert Pujols.  Sure, the odds of such a hit are quite long but when I saw this box I knew I had to see if I could repeat the mojo with a different year!

After those two boxes, we get to the rarer stuff:

2002 Topps Gold Label
18 packs (4 cards per pack) = 72 cards
2 guaranteed relics

The Gold Label box has a pair of relics in it, plus a bunch of other cool stuff.  There are a bunch of sequentially numbered parallel cards plus a whole bunch of different relic rarity levels.  I'm hoping we hit at least one of the rarer relics in the set - I don't think I've ever seen a Gold Label relic but I'm guessing they will be nice and shiny!

Finally, we have the two boxes that excite me the most:

2003 Fleer Showcase:
24 packs (5 cards per pack) = 120 cards
3 guaranteed relics

I can't run a group break any more without at least one box of Fleer something in it.  Over the last few breaks, I've pulled quite a few cool things from Fleer boxes including a hand-numbered relic of a shoe and of course last break's big hit, a Cal Ripken Jr. on card autograph (which happened to come from a box of Showcase - different year though).  The relics in this set are mostly serially numbered - actually, according to the box they all appear to be serially numbered but that could be me missing something.  There are also some autographs in the set (which are serially numbered as well).  The box doesn't say what the odds are of pulling an autograph (and neither do the packs - I checked).

And finally, the big box of the break!

2001 Topps Archives - Series 2
20 packs (8 cards per pack) = 160 cards
1 autograph per box

I'm quite excited to open up a box of Topps Archives.  I believe there is one auto per box for certain (plus the chance for a relic though I couldn't find the overall relic odds listed anywhere).  The autograph list is pretty good for the set - players like Willie Mays, Reggie Jackson, Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, and Ted Williams all signed cards.  Obviously, I hope we hit one of the really big names - let's keep the Nachos Grande group break mojo going!

And there you have it, my seventh group break (and hopefully the best yet)!  That's five boxes, roughly 688 cards, and at least TEN HITS (9 relics, 1 auto) plus the chance for more in many of the boxes!  Once again, for your $20.00 you get one team of your choice plus one team randomly assigned out of the unclaimed teams, trading allowed.  The group break will begin as soon as it is full - so claim your spot early in the comments below and then send your paypal to the email address in my profile (as a gift please).  I would also appreciate your user name in the subject of your payment, it makes life easier for me when it comes time to ship stuff.

The available slots (first 15 teams claimed only!):

The last box has me in for this break - even with no chance of Reds players. So I'll roll the dice and go with the Giants. Here's hoping for a Mays or Bonds hit?

  13. Oh, why not - I'll take the Tigers. I'm sure the checklists are thin. I really should pay more attention to that. Maybe I'll get lucky with the second draw.

Please expect payment tomorrow morning, if not sooner. I'll wait to see for sure I got them. Thanks!
