Allen & Ginter Case Rip: Box #10 - The First Half

At this point, I've busted all my boxes - I started to get anxious about not getting a rip card for the second consecutive year and just kept ripping.  Spoiler alert:  I was indeed shorted out of a rip card - something that I've already contacted Topps about.  I will say this though, you won't want to miss my last box - despite not getting a rip card I still had one of the best boxes that I've ever opened (and it truly was the final box that I busted which made it extra sweet)!

However, we are only one Box #10 as far as my written & scanned posts go - so let's get to it.  There's still some good stuff here too.

Box Loader:

Another Wonders of the World card.  This is the first card that doesn't look like complete garbage, even if Topps used a "snake skin" filter on the photo for reasons unknown to me.

Packs 1 - 12:

As usual, I'll start with the black bordered minis.

I got another short print (Kruk) plus Kris Medlen who seems to keep showing up in this case.

There were three mini insert cards.  The first was a card of the Apache.

It had been awhile since I pulled any of the First Americans insert cards so this was a nice find for me.  Did you know there are now about 30,000 Apache in the United States?

Next up, an Inquiring Minds mini of Arthur Schopenhauer.

According to the back of his card, Arthur finished his great work The World as Will and Representation before he turned 30 years of age.  I guess it's too late for me to do anything great since I'm turning 31 later this year.  *sigh*

The final mini insert was another Heavy Hangs the Head.

This time, it's an emperor of Japan that gets the royal treatment (pun intended).  I also apologize for the tilted scan.  The card must have slid on the scanner bed...but I was much too lazy to go back and rescan it.

I also found one of my three promised hits - though it's nothing to write home about.

Yep, a Brewers relic...I bet you are all jealous of me right now for that grey swatch.

Stay tuned, more cards are coming!

  1. I might want that Medlen if you have dups. I hope to open my lone hobby box tonight while I watch my Braves beat up again on the Nats.
