PWE Week: My Readers are the Best (Foul Bunt Edition)

It's another PWE (which makes sense since this is PWE Week here at Nachos Grande).  Today's envelope contains a single card courtesy of William over at Foul Bunt.  This particular card was a surprise (which is always fun) and had a note that accompanied it:

I love the fact that people now pull Barry Larkin cards (something I rarely seem to do) and think of me.  I would like to think that my blog has become super duper successful now that that is true!  That might come off as sarcastic (something I usually am) but I promise it's not.  I seriously consider this silly little blog a rousing success if people are A) noticing it, B) reading it, and C) thinking of me when they pull sweet Larkin goodness.

As for the card?  Well, it's one that I haven't been sent yet (and I have never bought as much as a single Panini pack so it's all new to me):

Beautiful little thing, isn't it?  Striking gold borders and a patriotic background (along with flying dirt).  It's really hard to not like this card - or the design of the set in general if they all look like this!  This is a great addition to my Larkin Collection (and speaking of my Larkin Collection, I've been doing a lot better lately in terms of scanning cards & writing posts for my Barry Larkin Collection).  I've actually managed to scan all of my 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990 cards (though I haven't written posts for all of them yet).  I've also scanned all of my 1991 Larkins (though, again, I haven't written posts about many of those).  Next up?  I suppose 1992 but who knows, maybe I'll jump to 2013 just so I can add this card to my binder immediately!

One other thing that caught my attention with this trade was this:

You see, I live in the current Mecca of natural gas drilling.  The Marcellus Shale literally lies beneath my feet here in north central Pennsylvania.  As such, the little logo on William's letter caught my attention since it talks about drilling.  Of course, around here "meeting drillers needs" would probably entail more hotels and bars being built (we've already had two new hotels open in the past couple of years plus a new bar so I'm not kidding).

Thanks again for the card William!  And, as always, if anyone else has a Larkin card for me - or anything else on my want list, I'd love to work out a trade!

  1. I dropped that same card in the mail for you a couple of days ago. I guess great minds think alike.
