2015 Topps Allen & Ginter: Box 4 - Packs 5 - 8 (A Framed Hit plus Some eBay News!)

Before I get to tonight's packs, let me take a moment to plug my current eBay auctions.  As of earlier this afternoon, I actually ripped my entire case - and wrote posts for the entire thing (without any scoring yet for my Gint-a-Cuffs box since the rules weren't posted yet).  Anyhow, I wanted to go as quickly as I could so that I could get some stuff up on eBay and strike while the proverbial iron is still hot (or at least warm).  My first round of auctions are up - you can find them all here.  I'd love any support or advertising you can send my way - after all, I need to do well with this year's sales in order to afford next year's case of Ginter!

And now, back to your regularly scheduled post!

In the first four packs, we pulled our first 10th Anniversary parallel card (numbered out of 10).  This batch doesn't contain any serially numbered cards but there is a framed hit to be found.  We will get there in due time though - so read on!

Box 4:
Packs 5 - 8:

I'm starting off with something other than a base card this time - it's one of those 10th Anniversary buyback cards.  However, I happen to like the 2008 set quite a bit so in my opinion this is one of the better buybacks that I've pulled from the case so far.  I also learned that it appears Topps DIDN'T short print any of the 350 base cards!  That certainly helps explain why I've been pulling so many cards numbered 301 and up.  I'll be able to verify that Topps didn't do something stupid like skip-numbered short prints once I sort all the base cards from my case but from what I can tell it looks like you have an equal shot at all 350 cards (the minis are still short printed however once you get to card 301+).

Speaking of minis, I pulled two regular back minis, one A&G back (Brandon Moss), and my first Magnates, Barons, and Tycoons card!

I was most pumped by the mini insert of course - especially since it is my first such representative from that mini set!  Did you know that Astor died when the Titanic sunk?

Looking at the full-sized inserts, I picked up another one of the kind of cool What Once Was Believed cards.

The more of these I get, the more I like them!  This one goes back to the ancient Greeks (yay!) with their belief that everything was made up of some combination of fire, air, water, and earth.  I suppose if you were living at that time, that belief was probably fairly solid given the limited advances in science at the time!

My other full-sized insert of note was another Ancient Armory card.

That's a spiky ball (or more officially, a flanged mace).  I don't think I'd want to be struck with one of those - ouch.  Though, to be fair, I don't think I want to be struck by anything in the Ancient Armory set!

And finally, our first hit of the box - and it's another one of the rather rare framed relics!

Daniel Murphy isn't super exciting to pull (and to be fair, none of my hits have been real exciting yet).  That said, the purple frames are pretty sweet...almost sweet enough that I could be convinced to try and collect the framed relics (and that's after saying I wouldn't)...  The jury is out on that one right now...I'll see how the rest of the case shapes up I guess!

Comments

  1. I've withheld comment on anything A&G until I buy some of my own, but I've just got to say that putting a buy back stamp on anything 2008 A&G is borderline defilement.

  2. YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!! I've already decided I'm doing it... :p BTW. Just looking at your EBay auctions, your case was vastly superior to mine. I'm attempting to take a different approach and post about it all at once. It's slow going. At this point, I'm wondering whose going to finish first.
