Barry Larkin Collection 502: 1999 Fleer Sports Illustrated - #79

Barry Larkin
Year: 1999
Brand:  Fleer Sports Illustrated
Card number:  79

The 1999 edition of Fleer Sports Illustrated was the third (and unfortunately last) year for the brand.  Like in the other years, one of the defining characteristics of the set was the stellar photography (of which Larkin is an excellent example).

In Larkin's case, his photograph features a big pile of dust and a Chicago Cub who is most definitely out.  The only negative thing about the image is that you can't actually make out who the Chicago player is (though perhaps someone with more investigative talents/time than I have can solve the mystery).

The backside of the card is fairly pedestrian, but it gets the job done (though I do wish that the team logo was a bit larger).  Still, with the team color coding and the full career statistics, I have very little to complain about with this card.  Even better, this is a set without a boat load of parallels meaning I've completely acquired all (one) Larkin card from the set!  Check!
