One of my favorite (non-baseball) sets of all time is the 2015 Upper Deck Dinosaurs set. The Dinosaurs set contains a large base set (150 cards) that is fractured into different rarity tiers. I'm actually missing quite a few of the base cards, even a number of the "common" cards. Because of that, I didn't buy any base cards this time around during my recent Check Out My Cards purchase. Instead, I focused on two of the insert sets from the 2015 Dinosaurs.
First, I bought a single sticker card that I needed.
That's Allosaurus - and now that I own him I'm down to only needing 12 more stickers to complete that set. With 30 stickers in total, I'm making decent progress...and my progress is even better since it appears that I might be the only one on baseball card blogs that opened much (any?) of this set!
My other set purchase was a pair of cards from the 3-D Lenticular insert set. I bought one "common" (seeded 1:7.5 hobby packs).
The common 3-D cards are all herbivores - with mine being the 30 foot long Prosaurolophus. This particular dinosaur weighed 3 tons and, like all herbivores, ate only plants.
All I can imagine is that there must have been some seriously large plants around the time of the dinosaurs in order to keep guys like this alive!
My other 3-D card is from the rarer Predators subset (seeded 1:25 hobby packs).
I bought the Oviraptor, a dinosaur that stood "only" 4 feet tall and was 8 feet long. Oviraptor is actually Greek for "egg thief"...but it was so named in error because the eggs it was found by were eventually determined to be its own! Oops.
As you can see, this is a cool set with some equally cool insert cards. Should you happen to have stumbled across any of the years (and still have them), here's what I am still seeking:

Upper Deck put Dinosaurs cards on ePack earlier this week.
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool set. All the SP's would drive me nuts, though. Good luck with your set build!
