Before I get to today's card package, I have to say "what happened to summer?!" Somehow, someway today is the first of September and with that, summer is basically kaput. Tomorrow actually marks the second full week of classes for my college (we don't get Labor Day off) and next thing you know, it'll be Thanksgiving break!
Rather than rushing away the last of the warm days (and nights), let's instead turn our attention to the boys of summer and a nice pile of cards sent my way by Kerry over at Cards on Cards. Kerry and I have been trading baseball cards back and forth for over ten years (!) now. I mean, I thought the summer went fast but it seems impossible that I've been blogging long enough to have trade partners in excess of ten years! Happily, unlike many bloggers that were around ten years ago, Kerry and I are both still going strong...and with that, still sending each other packages every now and then.
For my latest package from Kerry, there was a distinct early-90s thing going on since the vast majority of the cards were from the 1992 Upper Deck set that I'm working on.
In fact, Kerry knocked out a rather large chunk of my remaining want list. There's still some hope in me that I'll finish the 1992 Upper Deck set prior to the end of this year which would be great since I keep stating my goal of getting my want list whittled down to 100 (or fewer) sets. I've got quite a bit of work to do on that front yet, so any bit helps!
Speaking of bits that help, in addition to the Upper Deck cards Kerry also sent me a trio of Larkin cards for my Barry Larkin Collection. I'll be sure to show off each of the Larkin cards in their own post eventually but here's a sneak peak at what I got.
I have to say that the Topps Tek card is my favorite of the three - and a HUGE help for my collection because there are a ton of different versions of Barry's cards in the Tek set and I'm missing almost all of them still.
Thanks for the package of cards, Kerry! I've been working on a return package for you - hopefully it's arrived by now. As for anyone else, if you'd like to trade be sure to check out my want list and make an offer!
