2019 MLB Playoff Contest: An Update!

As I type this update, the Milwaukee Brewers are ahead of the Washington Nationals in the first game of this year's MLB Playoffs.  As you may know, I am running a contest for this year's MLB Playoffs where everyone who gets each playoff pick correct will be considered a winner and get a prize based on their favorite team.  It's highly possible that there are many winners in this contest and that's fine by me - in fact, I'd prefer that over having to do some sort of tie-breaker at the end.

Anyhow, for those interested in such things the goal is to get every series winner correct beginning with the two Wild Card games.  We had a total of 18 responses to the contest and here's how the two Wild Card games selections break down.

American League Wild Card game:

As you can see, if the Brewers manage to hold in the first Wild Card game we'll be down to only five entries that have a chance at getting everything correct!  That'd be quite the sequence of events, wouldn't it?  Of course, by the time you read this post you'll know who won the game but I usually have to write my posts in the evening for the next morning since I'm usually at work (at least on my way to work) when the morning post goes live.

I'm a big numbers guy so I also found it interesting that 100% of the participants in the contest picked the Dodgers to win their first series against the NL Wild Card winner while only 15 people picked the Astros to win their series against the eventual AL Wild Card winner.

As for the World Series picks, here's how it broke down:

I'll have another contest update in a few days when we know how the two Wild Card games shake out.  Let's hope we have some people left in the running!  Good luck everyone!

  1. So, surprise, we’re not down to 5...we’re down to four! Take a bow, people who picked the Rays!
