Barry Larkin
Year: 2002
Brand: Upper Deck Victory
Card number: 470
Another fairly forgettable set from Upper Deck, the 2002 UD Victory set contained 660 cards in the base set (split across various products which was weird) and was a retail exclusive. Other than the base set, there's not much to talk about here as Upper Deck only made one parallel set (gold parallels seeded 1:2 packs) and absolutely no insert sets, relics, or autographs.
I actually kind of like the simplicity of both the set's design from a card standpoint but also from an overall perspective. Unfortunately, while a simple set does fill a void in the collecting landscape, this particular edition of Upper Deck Victory is simply a little too gray for my tastes. The cards don't pop much at all (especially the back) and I find this particular card design super easy to confuse with a number of other Upper Deck designs from around the same time period.
