Barry Larkin
Year: 2003
Brand: Fleer EX
Card number: 20
The 2003 Fleer EX set is a kind of cool concept. The "cards" are printed on acetate stock and feature an action image on the front and some brief statistics on the back of the card. Some components are "see through" from front to back (for example, the team logo and the player's name) while other elements only show up on one side or the other (for example, the statistics). All told, I have to admit that I like this card (and set) quite a bit!
In addition to the base card, there are two different parallels for Barry: an Essential Credentials Now card numbered to 20 and an Essential Credentials Later parallel numbered to 83. In the 2003 edition of Fleer EX, each base card had two parallels where the Now version was numbered out of the card's number (so 20 in the case of Larkin since his base card is #20 in the set) and then the Future parallel is numbered out of 103-the card number (in Larkin's case 103-20 = 83). As of the time of this post, I don't own either parallel but perhaps someday I'll at least track down the Future parallel since it's roughly four times more common for Larkin!

EX was one of my favorite brands in the late 90's, although packs were too expensive for me, so I sort of had to enjoy them from afar.
