In 2003, Fleer issued a set called Focus JE (Jersey Edition) and a set called Patchworks. Based on name alone, it sure seems like those two sets could have been merged into a single set. Alas, that was not the way baseball card companies were thinking back in the early 00s! Frankly, I wouldn't have minded seeing both of those sets simply left on the cutting room floor as neither set seems overly inspired (let alone worth collecting).
That said, as a player collector I do still get the feeling of "gotta have 'em all" when it comes to Barry Larkin cards. For the 2003 Patchworks set, that means I have to track down the Ruby parallel of this boring base card (Ruby parallels are numbered out of 100 so they should be somewhat possible to find yet today). In addition, Fleer actually included Barry in a couple of insert sets. The first being a set called the Numbers Game which I know nothing else about. The other is a Numbers Game Jersey set (and a Numbers Game Patch parallel numbered out of 300).
If you think about it, it's sort of weird that there are more patch parallels of Larkin's relic card in existence than there are Ruby parallels of his boring base card. But alas, that's baseball cards in the early '00s for ya!
