Barry Larkin
Year: 2003
Brand: Topps Chrome
Card number: 227
While I already stated that I'm not a big fan of the regular 2003 Topps set, I have to admit that I do kind of like the Topps Chrome set from that same year. I guess it's the shiny that makes all that blue more palatable to me! That said, I'm still not much of a fan of the image that Topps used here (the same one as on Larkin's regular 2003 flagship card).
In addition to the Chrome base card, Larkin also has a bunch of parallels in the 2003 Chrome set including: Refractors (#/699), Gold Refractors (#/4499), and Black Refractors (#/199). Since Barry was part of Series 2, he also has a retail only Silver Refractor. Finally, there are slabbed X-Fractors of Larkin as well (Series 2 X-Fractors were numbered out of 57). That's a lot of parallels to track down...and wouldn't you know it but as of the time of this post I own exactly zero of the parallels. Bummer for sure!

2003 Chrome was the first time I ever saw a serial number.
