Back in December of 2019, I started sending off a bunch of different Season of Giving packages. Kerry (from Cards on Cards) was one of the first people I mailed off a package to. Though my packages were sent with no strings attached, a number of bloggers (including Kerry) did end up sending me something in return which is always appreciated!
For me personally, Kerry is one of the best trading partners I have because he's a perfect person for me to dump some of my least favorite baseball cards on: the St. Louis Cardinals. Kerry's a big fan of the wrong team in red but I don't hold that against him. He probably thinks the same thing about me but I'm guessing he's just as happy to have someone to dump his unwanted Reds on.
Speaking of Reds, that's exactly what this trade envelope held - a smattering of Reds from a variety of fairly recent sets (which is appreciated since I didn't buy a lot of recent stuff)!
Out of the 30ish Reds cards sent my way, here are my nine favorites:
Lots of good stuff there including a couple of nice horizontal cards (especially that Suarez Stadium Club card)! I also appreciate the Topps Fire Senzel rookie card, that's a new one for my growing collection of that young man.
In addition to the assorted Reds cards, Kerry also sent along a 2018 Reds team set.
My first thought was to rip it open but after a moment's consideration I have a better plan. I'm going to start a small collection of cards for my son for when he gets a bit older and I can't think of a better place to start than the Reds team set from the year he was born! Many thanks to Kerry for what will hopefully be the start of another card collector's collection in a few years.
Finally, Kerry must know that I like my toys as he threw in a mini Hot Wheels car.
I apologize for the fact that my scanner didn't want to scan the darn thing, I tried twice but no dice. Still, I'm a sucker for toys like this (though this one might also end up in my son's collection down the road). Any LEGO sent my way though...those usually stay in my collection, haha (though I do let me son play with them already, he isn't quite two and yet he's pretty good playing with "big kid" LEGO sets and pieces).
Thanks for the fun surprise envelope, Kerry. Sorry it took me over a month to get it posted to the blog!

Kerry is one of the most generous card bloggers out there. Very nice of him to send you a sealed team set and Hot Wheels car.
ReplyDeleteWow. The packaging on that Hot Wheels is really cool. If I saw those at Target, I probably would have to start collecting them.
