Barry Larkin
Year: 2004
Brand: Leaf Second Edition
Card number: 123
The 2004 Leaf Second Edition is simply the retail version of the regular 2004 Leaf set. I'm not exactly sure if that means this card is technically a parallel or if you treat the hobby release and the retail release as separate sets. Either way, this card is exactly the same as the hobby version other than the tiny "second edition" print on the front of the card.
The 2004 Leaf set is kind of nice, but it's also a gigantic mess to try and figure out. I did my best to describe what all is going on with this set back when I wrote about Larkin's regular (hobby version) base card. Check that here, but be warned that it's a convoluted set!

When I think of First Editions, I think more collectible... as in books and Pokemon cards. Kind of interesting that Leaf decided on stamping second edition on these cards. They could have just used a different color foil to designate that their retail cards. Either way... it's still a cool card. And who knows... there's a chance that there that the "Second Edition" cards were produced in smaller quantities.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Leaf did a lot of strange things around this time... Hard to know what they were thinking!
