Barry Larkin Collection 770: 2004 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia - Retail Version - #61

Barry Larkin
Year:
  2004
Brand:  Playoff Absolute Memorabilia - Retail Version
Card number:  61

In 2004, Playoff released two versions of their Absolute Memorabilia set.  The "real" version was hobby-only where each pack contained a hit of some sort.  The "other" version is what you see here, a retail-only stripped down version of the base set which only contained the first 200 cards on the checklist.

As for the base cards themselves, the biggest differences are the card stock (retail was thin, hobby was printed on holographic foil) and the serial numbering (retail had none, hobby had each base card numbered out of 1349 copies).

Besides the base card in each version of the set, there are a bunch of parallels to track down.  For Barry, those include:

  • Spectrum Silver (#/100)
  • Spectrum Gold (#/50)
  • Spectrum Platinum (#/1)

Barry was also featured in the Signature partial parallel set - and once again there are three versions of his card:

  • Signature Spectrum Silver
  • Signature Spectrum Gold
  • Signature Spectrum Platinum

I couldn't find definitive answers as to how many of each autograph parallel exist for Barry but I'm guessing it's no more than the number of base parallels that exist for each rarity tier!

As for the other inserts, Barry is featured in the following:

  • Absolute Ink
  • Spectrum Ink
  • Absolutely Ink Material
  • PS Absolutely Ink Material
  • Absolutely Ink Combo Material
  • PS Combo Ink Material
  • Absolute Material (retail version)

Phew, that's a lot of cards to track down from this particular set!  I've got a long, long ways to go here too since as of the time of writing this post I only own the card you see at the top of the post!
