It's Monday (again). Sure seems like it was just Monday last week, doesn't it?!
In all seriousness, Monday's have meant TDCB weekly trade wrap-ups for awhile now so let's not ruin the tradition quite yet. I had fewer trades completed last week than I have had other weeks but that's probably in large part due to the fact that I'm now back at work full-time. After this week, I may need to move my TCDB wrap-up posts to a biweekly (or even triweekly) event. We'll see, I guess.
This week I do have enough cards to show off to fill up a post and we'll begin with a PWE from user jrberus.
That's a 1994 Upper Deck SP die-cut card of Barry Larkin - a parallel of his regular base card and a card that I've wanted to track down for quite some time now. It "cost" me nine cards to acquire this one but for me it was worth it for two reasons - 1) I wanted the card and 2) I am always happy to get rid of excess cards that don't fit within my collecting goals anymore!
Next, from user jmichael110 comes a PWE stuffed full with four 2000 Fleer Tradition cards for my set build.
I've been working on the 2000 Tradition set for what feels like forever (I guess it's been 21 years doing the math). It's nice to finally be nearing the end of the set build - in fact, here's what little remains that I still need:
2000 Fleer Tradition Wants:
Base: 14, 323, 399
Base: 14, 323, 399
I'm hopeful that this is the year I get to delete this set from my want list once and for all! I figured that Griffey, Jr. card would be the last card I'd need so getting it now was an extra nice bonus. Super happy with this trade.
Continuing the PWE train, we have an envelope from user Godzilla8you (a repeat trade partner of mine):
In this swap, I was originally supposed to get a different Barry Larkin card but the trader had it mislabeled (early 90s parallels/variations are tough so I understand). In the end, it was kind of like drawing the "Bank error in your favor" card from a game of Monopoly as I ended up with two additional Larkin cards including one numbered out of 299. Oh yeah, and some guy named Mike Trout and another dude who goes by Iron Man.
Nice! I still have quite a ways to go with both of those set builds but anytime you can land some of the bigger stars in the set it's a good day! To get both in the same trade? Even better.
Next, yet another PWE this time from user bbcards56.
That's the second-to-last Citadels & Safeholds card that I need for my 2020 Ginter set. Even better, I'm now only three mini cards away from completing ALL of the 2020 Ginter mini sets! See, even one card envelopes can be fun and exciting if they hold the right card.
And last but certainly not least, from user marcbrubaker (aka Remember the Astrodome on the blogs) comes a PWE with a pair of needed cards:
It will forever be weird to me seeing Joe Morgan in a Houston Astros uniform - but I am happy to acquire this card as it's the penultimate card that I need from the 1992 Upper Deck Baseball Heroes set. Special thanks to Marc for the trade, always fun to make swaps with bloggers that I've known for many years prior to me joining TCDB.
Overall, this was a solid week of trading - but at least as of the time of this post I only have two other trades that are currently in the works over on TCDB. I guess I need to upload another batch of trade bait onto the site - or maybe just spend some time putting a bunch of offers out there to other users.
