Barry Larkin
Year: 1990
Brand: O-Pee-Chee
Card number: 10
The 1990 O-Pee-Chee set was the first O-Pee-Chee set that was a perfect mirror of the regular issue Topps flagship (besides the addition of the French text, of course). Heck, even the front of the card sports the Topps logo rather than O-Pee-Chee. Given that (and the fact that I can't read French), there isn't much else to say about this card...it's basically a French parallel of 1990 Topps!
Of course, as an avid Larkin collector I'm happy to have this one in my collection but truthfully I don't hold it in much higher esteem than say one of those early 90s Donruss variations with the different number of periods on the back of the card. At a glance, this card will forever look like 1990 Topps to me - and it's only when you flip it over and study it a little bit that you will notice the different version!

Certainly seems to be a cop-out. Even Barry isn't amused by this!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame they couldn't just swap the Topps logo on the front for the traditional OPC logo.
