It has now taken me three posts (spread out over four days) this week to be able to show off all of my TCDB trades from last week. Today, we move on to the non-PWE trades that rolled in.
We'll start with the smallest of the three remaining trades - a five card pick-up of 2004 Upper Deck Vintage cards from user NetScans.
My time of collecting the '04 Vintage set is nearly ended - all of the remaining cards on my want list for the set are now marked as "incoming." It's going to feel great when I can finally cross this set off of my want list, especially since it's a set from my "dead period" of collecting when I wasn't buying any packs of cards during that time.
My next package is from user 49ants. This wasn't so much a trade as it was a trade and purchase. I do think that I probably overpaid on this one BUT I was able to secure so many cards that I needed/wanted that it was worthwhile for me!
In total, I landed 47 cards from 49ants: 18 of them were various Barry Larkin cards while the rest were all cards on my want list. I'm not going to be scanning the vast majority of the cards (the Larkin cards will all get their day in the sun eventually on my blog) but I will show off a couple of highlights.
We'll begin with the above two cards - both from the 2008 Goudey set. It's been a long, long time since I inched any closer to completing the mini Hit Parade of Champions set. Lots and lots of big names in that little set - so getting people to part with the ones that I still need has proven to be tricky!
Speaking of still needing, here's what I'm looking for currently:
2008 Upper Deck Goudey Wants:
Base: #266, 285, 302, 305, 310, 312, 313, 318, 319, 321, 323, 325, 328
Hit Parade of Champions: #HPC-2, HPC-15, HPC-17, HPC-21
Next, a quartet of cards from the awesome 2001 Topps High Definition (HD) set. This is another set where progress has been super difficult to come by. Not exactly sure why - maybe the set simply wasn't popular back in '01?
For my money, this set is basically Stadium Club but on much thicker card stock. I like it a lot!
That's at least a tiny sample of what I got in the trade/sale. Amazingly, despite getting so many new cards for my various set builds, I wasn't actually able to finish a single set. I am, however, much closer to completing a number of sets - something that is one of my major goals for 2021!
We end this amazing week of TCDB trades with one more large package. This time it's from user madams30. In this trade, I acquired 21 new Pacific cards (split fairly evenly between 1999 Pacific Aurora and 1999 Pacific).
And that does it for this week on TCDB! I can tell you right now that next week's wrap-up won't be nearly as exciting seeing as how it took me a solid week to get all of the cards from last week scanned and written about! In addition, as my want list shrinks it gets harder and harder to find trade matches on TCDB. Even worse, much of my want list consists of inserts or short prints - neither of which are in huge supplies on the trading website.
All that said, this past week was amazing and my collection continues to get more and more complete. It's been a lot of fun so far this year and I don't have any plans to stop now.
Speaking of plans, I DO have plans to do another Breaker's Club and I'm currently taking sign-ups. If you are interested, go here for all of the details - the next break will contain a bunch of boxes including three from 2021 (Heritage, Opening Day, and Donruss). It should be super fun and I'd love for you to join in!

That photo of Yaz sure has been used a lot. On the flip side though, Konerko looks really sharp on that Vintage design.
ReplyDeleteYes! Love me some Topps HD. I almost wish it was still around except in today's hobby it would probably cost $19.99 for two cards.
ReplyDeleteWhat! Tino via TCBD!
