I hope everyone had a lovely 4th of July! Heck, I hope you all have today off as it's the "observed holiday" - and with that time off, why not peruse the blogs, am I right?!
Since today is Monday, it's time for another weekly wrap-up of my TCDB activity. I'm going to begin with my favorite trade of the week - mostly because I was able to land a bunch of needed cards from the 2008 Upper Deck Goudey set.
The two full-sized cards are both part of the various short print subsets in the '08 set. The three smaller cards are all part of the Hit Parade of Champions insert set. With these three now in hand, I'm only missing one more Hit Parade card before that set can (finally) join my list of completed sets! Heck, the entire 2008 Goudey set is now within arm's reach of being completed...
2008 Upper Deck Goudey Wants:
Base: #302, 305, 310, 312, 318, 319, 323, 325, 328
Hit Parade of Champions: HPC-21
The other card from this trade (which was with TCDB user CluelessJoe by the way) is this Barry Larkin card from the 1998 Opening Day set.
Somehow I never acquired that particular Larkin card! It's all mine now though, muah hahaha.
Ok, the evil laugh might have been a bit much, sorry.
Moving along and pretending that never happened, next up is a trade with user jbostic.
That's seven more new-to-me Barry Larkin cards for my collection. As I've said a number of times, TCDB has been instrumental in allowing me to accumulate a lot of older Barry Larkin cards that I missed out on during each set's release window. Look for future Barry Larkin Collection posts to highlight each of the above cards in greater detail!
Next, from frequent TCBD trading partner Godzilla8you comes another package with new Barry Larkin cards.
This trade started off with an inquiry from Godzilla8you asking if I'd have any interest trading for that 1985 Topps 35th Anniversary Red parallel from the 2020 Topps set. The card itself is numbered out of only 10 - and while I've made the decision to only chase after Barry Larkin cards with at least 25 copies produced, I won't turn down rarer Larkin cards if I'm able to make a trade work!
Next up, a simple 1-for-1 trade for another new Larkin card (this time with user BrnxBombers51).
That's another one of those Pinnacle Epix inserts (this is the orange version from the 1998 Pinnacle set).
Two more PWEs for the week beginning with this one from user jsteved:
That's a 2000 Upper Deck SP Authentic base card of Barry Larkin. Nothing particularly special or rare about the card...just another Larkin that I didn't previously own!
And finally...from user colonel98801 comes the last two cards of the week:
Not surprisingly, another new Barry Larkin card there but more surprising (perhaps) is the inclusion of a random Yankee from the 1992 Upper Deck set. The Gallego card is the final card that I needed for my 1992 Upper Deck set build - and with it in hand I've now completed a whopping 28 sets thus far in 2021!
That's it for the week! Not a bad week if you ask me - plenty of new Barry Larkin cards, another set completed, and a few more short prints/inserts acquired from a pesky Goudey set. Have a great end to your holiday weekend, everyone!

Wow. That red bordered Larkin looks fantastic! Congratulations on pulling off that trade.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of surprised that somebody would have that 35th Anniversary Red parallel up for trade. I rarely see anything more than base cards, and low-level inserts, on there.
