Barry Larkin
Year: 1991
Brand: Donruss
Card number: 5 (Factory Set version)
The 1991 Donruss set came in two possible flavors - cards from packs and cards prepackaged as full factory sets. The version you see above is from the aforementioned factory set.
How can you tell which version you have?
Well, the factory set version has lots of dots along with stripes on the sides of the card front while the regular pack version does not (see below - the borders consist of basically only stripes on the pack version of the card):
There's also two different versions of the regular pack card - one with and one without the period on the copyright line!
For player collectors, the good news is that the "pointless parallel versions" of cards don't go much past the year 1991...that is until we reach the era of the true parallel. At that point in time, all bets are off (look at sets like Topps Tek for all the proof you could ever need)!
