The 1990 Topps Tiffany set follows the same pattern as earlier Topps set.  Namely, you get a glossier card front and a brighter card back.  While the brighter backs are a general giveaway to the fact you are holding a Topps Tiffany card, for some years (including 1990) there is an even easier way to tell - look for the missing asterisk in the copyright line.  The regular Topps base set has an asterisk while the Tiffany set does not (see Larkin's regular 1990 card - below -  to see what I'm referring to).

From what I've read, the 1990 Topps Tiffany set was limited to "only" 15,000 sets making it quite a bit more common than other Tiffany sets from around the same era.  Still, this particular card took me quite some time to track down so I guess compared to the overabundance of 1990 Topps base cards, the Tiffany set is still fairly rare in comparison!
