Barry Larkin Collection 851: 1991 Baseball's Best Hit Men - #13

Barry Larkin
Year:  1991
Brand:  Baseball's Best Hit Men
Card number:  13

The 1991 Baseball's Best Hit Men set was a set of 18 stickers.  Each sticker featured a large photo of the player and a small "card" number and that's basically it.  These are stickers so there is nothing on the back of the sticker except for the sticker sheet backing itself.  All things told, fairly boring to look at in a binder but I guess kind of cool if you actually used the stickers and stuck them all over a Trapper Keeper or something (it was the 90s, after all).

One interesting thing about this set is that of the 18 featured players, 9 of them ended up in the MLB Hall of Fame (Larkin, of course, plus Wade Boggs, George Brett, Ken Griffey, Jr., Tony Gwynn, Kirby Puckett, Tim Raines, Ryne Sandberg, and Robin Yount being the other HOF representatives).

  1. Very cool. I'll need to track down the Gwynn. This is the fourth post of the morning where I discovered a card/set that I didn't know existed. I wonder how this sticker set was distributed. The way it's designed, it reminds me of those sticker sets that come with books that kids are expected to plaster them in.
