Earlier this week, I held a group break which consisted of three boxes - a hobby box of 2021 Topps Gold Label plus two retail blasters (2021 Bowman Platinum and 2021 Donruss Optic). Today, I'm here to show off some of the highlights from the Optic blaster.
Each blaster of Optic promises 6 packs per box with 4 cards per pack plus an addition 3 "blaster exclusive" pink parallels. I guess the pink parallels are supposed to give people an additional incentive to buy a blaster (as opposed to something like loose packs or even a hobby box).
Our three pink parallels consisted of Cristian Pache, Juan Soto, and Charlie Blackmon. I think we have to be rather happy with our player selection - especially that Diamond King card of Soto!
Looking at some of the inserts from the blaster, we found one of the awesome Unleashed cards.
Yep, our second nice Soto card of the blaster! The Nationals were one of the better teams in this box for sure!
We found two Prizm parallels (basically Panini's answer to Topps' refractor parallels).
That Jasson Dominguez card would have gone for big money a few months ago, not sure what the market for his cards looks like now. Still, it's definitely a nice pull!
I didn't scan them, but we did pull two of the "Rated Prospect" cards (Nick Gonzales for the Pirates and Adley Rutschman for the Orioles). We also found one card from the similarly themed "The Rookies" but this one I scanned mostly for the background part of the photo - masked fans in the stands!
If nothing else, this card will make for a solid reminder of what the 2020 and 2021 baseball season looked like.
Our final two inserts of the blaster were both rather heavy on the pinks and purples in the color spectrum:
I happen to like the "Mythical" card of Bichette a lot! The design is pretty sweet...and to me at least, it's what a set like Gypsy Queen ought to look like!
That basically does it for the blaster. I didn't bother scanning any of the 16 base cards but if you want to see the whole blaster opened live then you can check out the video over on my YouTube channel.
