Barry Larkin Collection 857: 1991 Pepsi

Barry Larkin
Year:  1991
Brand:  Pepsi
Card number:
The 1991 Pepsi set is a set that I know almost nothing about.  The only thing I could find about the set was from Beckett:
This 20-card standard-size set was produced by MSA (Michael Schechter Associates) for Pepsi-Cola of Ohio, and Pepsi logos adorn the upper corners of the card face. The cards were placed inside of 24-soda packs of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Caffeine-Free Pepsi, Caffeine Free Diet-Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Diet Mountain Dew.
Despite the complete lack of logos, this is still a pretty nice looking card.  Seeing as how this was a regional giveaway packed into a product that wasn't necessarily consumed by a baseball fan, it's probably no surprise that the Pepsi cards are fairly rare these days (I know it took me quite some time to acquire this particular card for my Larkin Collection)!

  1. I was going to say Reds fans lucked out... because the red borders match the team uniforms perfectly. But after looking for these on COMC, it looks like it was a Cincinnati Reds oddball issue. Anyways... very cool card for your Larkin PC.
