Over the years, I've accumulated well over 1,000 different Barry Larkin cards. And yet, through all of those cards there was one relatively common rookie card of Larkin's that I never managed to acquire - that is, not until now thanks to a recent eBay purchase:
That's Larkin's 1987 Fleer Glossy card - or at least, I sure hope it is since it seems only a bit more glossy than Larkin's regular Fleer card from that year. I'm taking the eBay seller's word for it I guess as I don't know of any other way to differentiate between the glossy and the non-glossy version other than feel.
With the 1987 Fleer Glossy now in my possession, I'm down to needing only one more Barry Larkin card from '87.
That's a tiny snippet of my Larkin Collection spreadsheet - as you can see, I'm nearly done with the 1980s Larkin cards! And if you were wondering, the last 1987 card that I need is an oddball -
a New Reds Machine card #7.
For now, I'll simply be happy with what I have - that oddball card can wait for another day!
Congratulations on landing the glossy. I don't think I'd be able to tell the difference without have a regular version to compare it to.
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered if these were easy to tell apart from the regular cards. Sounds like that isn't the case.
