Welcome back to the next post in my 30 MLB Teams in 30 Posts countdown (plus the contest - see the bottom of the post for details on that).
#8: Cleveland Indians Guardians (Previous Rankings - 2019, 2020: #4, 2)
The Cleveland Guardians have been in my Top 5 the last two times that I've done this ranking exercise. However, this time around Cleveland slips out of the Top 5 but does stay within my Top 10. The main reason for the slippage is two-fold: One, I haven't been to a game in Cleveland in quite some time and that was my main connection to the team, and two, the Guardians have recently been beating up on my Reds fairly badly...in fact, the Reds and Guardians play for the "Ohio Cup" each year and it's been the Guardians holding the cup for the past eight years.
Yeah, that level of dominance over the Reds is enough to push Cleveland out of my Top 5!

Up next, we are down to the final seven teams in the countdown so it's getting easier and easier to guess correctly! Of the seven teams remaining, team #7 is one of the three teams left that I haven't watched a baseball game in their home ballpark.
Just gonna guess my Tigers until they pop up.

ReplyDeleteMan, falling from #2 to #8, and that's with getting rid of an arguably offensive name! (Although I do think the purge is a bit much--I'm glad they changed their name, but I don't see why Topps had to purge all mention of it from their card backs, to the point where the "AZL Indians" are now just "AZL". What, am I the only person who reads the stats?)
