COMC Time: Part 2 - The Caber Toss Edition

I'm back with part 2 of my recent COMC order!

Today, we'll begin with the two of the three minis in my order - both from Allen & Ginter (one from 2014, the other from 2015).

Interestingly enough, both cards feature Caber Tossing and (unfortunately) both appear to use the exact same photo - one is just cropped slightly tighter than the other.  That's definitely lame on Topps' part.

The 2014 Athletic Endeavors set is one that I haven't done a very good job of completing - in fact, even with the Caber Toss card now in my possession I'm still missing a whopping seven out of the ten cards in the set!  Heck, I haven't done well with a pair of 2014 Allen & Ginter mini sets - the Athletic Endeavors as well as the Urban Fauna set!

2014 Topps Allen & Ginter's Wants:
Athletic Endeavors:
AE-01 Shovel Racing
AE-02 Wife Carrying Championship
AE-03 Rock Paper Scissors
AE-04 Royal Shrovetide Football
AE-05 Cheese Rolling
AE-07 Chess Boxing
AE-09 Sack Races
Urban Fauna:
UF-01 Sciurus Carolinensis (Grey Squirrel)
UF-02 Periplaneta Americana (American Cockroach)
UF-08 Lymantria Dispar Dispar (Gypsy Moth)
UF-09 Rattus Norvegicus (Brown Rat)

As for the 2015 "A Healthy Body" card, that's another set that I'm slowly making headway on...and much like 2014, my 2015 A&G want list is still quite large!  I also was able to add one card from the "A Healthy Mind" set:

That takes me to the halfway completed mark for the Healthy Mind set (I'm not quite at the halfway mark for the Healthy Body set unfortunately).  As for the shuffleboard card, I guess I don't do enough to keep my mind healthy because I've actually never played shuffleboard in my life (and that's kind of strange seeing as how I love games of all types)!

2015 Topps Allen & Ginter Wants:
Mini Inserts:
A Healthy Body:  Body- 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10
A Healthy Mind:  Mind- 2, 3, 5, 8, 10

Next up, a trio of Upper Deck Dinosaur patches!

I've made great progress on the patch set - with mostly the super rare patches all that I still need to acquire.  Of the three I bought from COMC, the T-Rex was part of the "uncommon" tier of patches (seeded 1:84 packs) and it happened to be the final card I needed from that tier.  The other two patches were from the rare tier - and from that tier I'm still missing one more patch card (see below).

Here's what I still need from this set:
2015 Upper Deck Dinosaurs:
Patch cards:   44, 56, 57, 59, 60

Out of the five missing patch cards, four of them are in the "super rare" subset seeded 1:578 packs while the fifth (Albertosaurus) is considered part of the "rare" tier (seeded 1:179 packs).

Overall, not a bad haul from COMC and I'm still not done showing off the cards (stay tuned for a future blog post to see what else I acquired).

  1. Wow, the same photo used the very next year! ... There was a noticeable downturn in A&G in 2015 and this is another example. It's never recovered either.

  2. I saw a caber tossing match live once. It's insane to see these guys basically lift and throw telephone poles...
