Delivery Time! Awesome Cards from Nick over at Dime Boxes!

Earlier this year, Nick over at Dime Boxes celebrated his 10th year of blogging with a huge baseball card giveaway.  The basic premise was that he put a bunch of cards up for offer and you could comment and claim the card(s) you wanted.  I was late to the party for a bunch of his posts (some I missed entirely due to the busyness of the spring semester) but even so I still landed quite a few goodies!

We'll begin with this Vladimir Guerrero card from the 2000 Fleer EX set.

I'm such a sucker for this EX set - so much so, in fact, that I may end up trying to build the base set for myself some day.  I love the bright colors of the set - and the fact that the two colors on each card are tied to the specific player's team.  Great stuff all around - and a fun way to start this mail day!

Next up, the "usual suspects" in that Nick sent me a pair of Barry Larkin cards.

The mini is a regular back mini while the 2020 Donruss is some sort of parallel that I'll have to eventually look up the name for.  Purple?  Striped?  Who knows with Panini, it might be called something like Walrus Rainbow.

The next four cards in the PWE hit on a few different collecting interests of mine.

For starters, Chris Sabo is another player that I collect (not as avidly as Barry Larkin) but it's worth mentioning that "Spuds" (i.e. Sabo) was my original favorite player as a kid!  The Nolan Ryan was too nice of a card to pass up - I don't have nearly enough Nolan Ryan cards (especially in an Angels uniform) and the Kyle Lewis card was shiny and caught my eye...that's all I can say about that!

Finally, to close out the PWE how about some vintage greatness?

Well-loved vintage cards always appeal to me - and you can tell that the Campaneris card was well-loved indeed!  Personally, I'm a huge fan of the 1965 Topps set so being able to acquire a couple of cards from that particular set was super cool.  I don't know that I'll ever try to build a Topps set from before I was born...but if I do, 1965 Topps would probably be the set I'd go after!

Many, many thanks to Nick for the cards and giveaway...and congrats again on 10 years blogging!

  1. You're very welcome! Glad you were able to snag a few from the giveaway. I believe that Larkin is a "holo purple" parallel, but don't quote me on that - one of probably about 200 different parallels in that set!
