Buckle up for the parade of cards that is 1990 Star Barry Larkin & Bo Jackson. I showed off the first Larkin card from this set a few days ago (see here) and now I'm back with the next Larkin card from the set.
Editor's note: In case you are wondering, I'm only collecting the Barry Larkin portion of the 1990 Star Barry Larkin & Bo Jackson set. Someone else out there can try for the Bo cards. After all, if there's one thing Bo knows, it's the I don't need even more unwanted cards in my collection!
Anyhow, back to today's featured card. It's a strange one in that you get 3/4 of Barry Larkin in the photo (no ankles/feet) and about 5/6 of the umpire (most of his head is missing). The card is so strangely cropped that I can't help but wonder if Star was employing 12-year-olds to make some of their cards?! As for the card back, it's all about Larkin's career at the All-Star game...a game that Larkin was nominated to a bunch of times but unfortunately Barry never did overly great in All-Star games throughout his career (by 1990, he was already 0-for-2 with a strikeout).
I still have a few more cards from this particular set to show off, hopefully they'll get posted to the blog without too much further delay! Stay tuned.
Strange cropping job for sure. And on top of all that, it looks like Barry wasn't able to come up with the diving catch. Dang!
